Self care tips

I’m sure you’ve all heard people preaching on about self care over the last couple of years more-so than previously. It is also something that I am really trying to practice and implement into my day to day routine. We are all so adamant to fit other things into our lives and need to understand the importance of looking after ourselves too.

The best way to try and start implementing self care is looking at things you already enjoy and by starting with 5-10 minutes of self care a day.

Some self care activities I like to do are as follows:

- Reading - you probably all knew that one was coming as I post about books I’ve read but it is such a good escape from everything as you get lost in the stories of others.

- Podcasts - these are a more relatively new additional to my life but they are such good company for long drives or for going on walks. I will do a post about some podcasts I am loving!

- Music - music is something we all have access to and as the previous points also mention, is a great escape and has the ability to match any emotion you are currently feeling. Sometimes a good sing-song to some cheesy hits can help automatically lift your mood!

- Walks - light exercise and fresh air is so great for our physical and mental health. I have been loving going out for a walk in the evenings with my earphones in and sometimes a furry friend accompanying me too.

- Baths - a way to get a break and relax without having to leave your house can sometimes be the best solution. Sometimes you can combine some of these things and read or listen to music/podcasts whilst in the bath and have the ultimate escape.

- TV - I don’t always like saying TV because screens do take up a lot of our time these days but it can be a great escape, whether that is watching the Soaps, Love Island, binge-watching an old series or watching films.

Anything that enables you to lose yourself into something that isn’t your reality can help you to feel so much better and refreshed!

Looking after ourselves is so important and something that people are starting to talk about more but something that we still aren’t putting at the forefront of our lives. We can’t help others or live our lives to our fullest if we aren’t taking care our wellbeing.

What are some of your favourite ways of taking care of yourself?x
